We are convinced that the following Scripture passages apply to our family's parent-child relationships: Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you... Deuteronomy 11:18-21 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds...Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the LORD swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth. Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Titus 2:1-8 You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. We are convinced that the following Scripture passages apply to our children's other relationships & interactions: Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the man (child) who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good habits. We our CONVINCED that home educating is the most efficient (and enjoyable) way for us to reach our Scripturally based goals for our family and children. We value the Word of God and are convinced that we must make time in our children's lives for independent study of its meaning & application, as well as instruction and day-to-day practice. We value strong HEALTHY relationships within the family and are convinced that we must take every possible opportunity to build these. We value our children's purity and are convinced that the best way to protect it is by establishing & maintaining a biblically based process for our children to find life-mates through the above mentioned study of God's Word and healthy child-parent relationships. We value the family hierarchy set forth in Scripture and are convinced that we must train our children to adhere to it today in preparation for the time they will have their own families. We value the respect of elders and authorities and are convinced that we must teach our children proper manners and an attitude of humble obedience toward such individuals. We value the body of believers and are convinced that we must not forsake the gathering, the encouraging, and the serving of this group as a family unit. We value the weak, needy, poor, and lonely and are convinced that it is our God-given duty to minister to them as a family unit. |
